In Depth Training in Relational Somatics

The Somatic Therapy Training is the advanced professional pathway within The Boulter Method.

This is not a technique-based certification or a weekend trauma training. It is a rigorous, supervision-based immersion in embodied relational therapy.

Rooted in the teachings of Hal Boulter and informed by somatic pioneers such as Jack Rosenberg, this training prepares practitioners to work with character structure, attachment dynamics, nervous system dysregulation, and relational repair.

The emphasis is not on catharsis or performance. It is on containment, precision, and sustained presence.

Over 24 months, students develop the capacity to track the body, understand defensive patterning, work responsibly with charge, and hold therapeutic process without collapse or inflation.

This training is designed for practitioners who have embodied the foundations and are ready to carry the method into professional therapeutic practice.

Who This Training Is For

This training is designed for practitioners who have completed the foundational Boulter Method pathway and are prepared to deepen their clinical capacity.

It is for those who:

Have completed the 6-Month Boulter Method Immersion
Are certified Boulter Method Breathwork Facilitators
Are committed to supervision, case review, and ethical development
Are willing to examine their own relational patterns as part of professional growth
Value containment over catharsis and precision over performance

Program Structure

Overview

Duration: 24 Months
Format: Hybrid (In-Person Intensives + Monthly Supervision)
Location: British Columbia

Certification: Boulter Method Certified Somatic Therapist (Upon Completion of Requirements)

Training Components

Opening 5-Day Intensive: Entering Practitioner Consciousness

The training begins with a 5-day in-person immersion designed to initiate students into the embodied stance of the practitioner.

Through live demonstrations, body reading labs, pacing and containment work, supervised dyads, and process deconstruction, students begin translating the inner work of the Immersion into ethical therapeutic skill.

Monthly Supervision Calls

Live case review, applied teaching, relational tracking, and disciplined refinement of clinical skill.

Supervised Client Hours

Students work with clients and return for structured feedback and integration.

Mentorship & Professional Development
Support in ethical practice, boundaries, scope of work, and sustainable therapeutic presence.

How the Training Is Taught

A defining feature of this training is its demonstration-based learning model.

The opening 5-day intensive begins with live, center-of-the-room somatic process work, where one participant volunteers to work directly with Reanna in the presence of the cohort.

Students learn through direct observation of the Boulter Method in real time:

  • how the body is read

  • how openings are recognized

  • how pacing shifts

  • how touch, breath, and movement are chosen

  • how relational repair is facilitated

  • how a session is safely closed

These demonstrations are then carefully deconstructed step by step, allowing students to understand the clinical thinking, somatic cues, and therapeutic decision-making beneath the process.

The online supervision calls are designed to deepen and expand what was awakened in the intensives, through case consultation, process review, peer reflection, and continued refinement of therapeutic presence.

Curriculum Focus

The training is structured around progressive mastery of relational somatic therapy.

Students engage in both theoretical study and applied clinical practice in the following areas:

Core Areas of Study

Character Structure & Postural Patterning
Understanding defensive organization in the body and how early adaptation shapes relational patterning.

The Primary Scenario & Attachment Dynamics
Tracking developmental wounding, transference patterns, and the repetition of early relational imprints.

Somatic Containment & Charge
Building, holding, and discharging charge responsibly within therapeutic process.

Relational Tracking & Therapeutic Presence
Developing the capacity to remain regulated, precise, and present in complex emotional dynamics.

Reparenting & Reparative Experience
Supporting corrective emotional experience without reenactment or inflation.

Transference, Countertransference & Ethical Boundaries
Recognizing projection, managing relational intensity, and maintaining professional integrity.

Clinical Application & Case Formulation
Integrating theory into structured, responsible therapeutic intervention.

The emphasis throughout the training is on precision, containment, and responsible therapeutic development — not performance or catharsis.

What Distinguishes This Training

The Boulter Method emphasizes containment over catharsis, precision over performance, and relational integrity over intensity.

Students are not trained to provoke breakthrough experiences. They are trained to recognize defensive organization, track nervous system shifts, and work responsibly with charge.

Students are trained not only through theory and supervised practice, but through repeated exposure to live demonstration, direct observation, and the disciplined deconstruction of therapeutic process.

This cultivates the capacity to think somatically in real time — to recognize subtle openings, track defensive organization, and intervene with precision rather than performance.

The focus is not on dramatic release, but on sustainable repatterning.

This training develops practitioners who can:

Remain regulated in the presence of dysregulation
Track subtle somatic cues rather than chase activation
Recognize reenactment and interrupt it with clarity
Hold therapeutic authority without inflation or collapse

The work is steady, relational, and grounded in long-term development — both for the practitioner and the client.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Certification as a Boulter Method Somatic Therapist is granted upon successful completion of all training requirements.

Students must complete the following:

• Full attendance at both 5-day in-person intensives

• Participation in monthly supervision calls

• Completion of required supervised client hours

• Submission of recorded sessions for review

• Demonstrated competency in relational tracking and somatic containment

• Adherence to ethical standards and scope of practice

• Approval through final evaluation and interview

Certification is not automatic. It reflects demonstrated clinical maturity, embodied practitioner presence, ethical integrity, and readiness to hold therapeutic process responsibly over time.
