The Lineage

The Boulter Method is a body of teachings passed down from Hal Boulter to Reanna Costa through over 2.5 years of one-on-one mentorship.

Hal, a somatic therapist trained in Rebirthing with Leonard Orr, the Hakomi Method, and Integrative Body Psychotherapy (IBP) with Jack Rosenberg, spent decades using breath as a tool for deep therapeutic transformation.

Through this work, he developed a unique and powerful way of being with people — a method of guiding others through breath that became distinctly his own.

This method was passed to Reanna with both sanction and encouragement to share it. It is now known as The Boulter Method.

What Is The Boulter Method?

The Boulter Method is a transmission — a way of meeting yourself through the breath.

It begins with doing your own work. Learning to listen to the intelligence of your body. Developing the capacity to stay present with sensation, emotion, and charge.

Only then does it expand into learning how to hold space for others.

While the full method is a complete therapeutic model, this training focuses specifically on its breathwork applications.

This is the foundational training in The Boulter Method.

It is required for those who wish to continue into the Somatic Therapy Training, and serves as the ground upon which all further work is built.

Format & Overview

This training unfolds over four immersive weekends (100 hours total), combining direct instruction, experiential practice, and structured at-home study.

Throughout the training, you will study, experience, and practice:

Anatomy

Deepen your understanding of breath mechanics and nervous system regulation.

History

Explore the roots of breathwork and its evolution within therapeutic practice.

Containment

Learn how to build, hold, and safely discharge charge through structured breath.

Altered States

Understand how breath shifts consciousness and how to guide these states responsibly.

Somatics

Study physical and psychological holding patterns and how to support release through presence and touch.

Integration

Learn how to help others process and integrate their experiences.

Facilitation

Develop the skills to teach and guide groups with structure, safety, and embodied presence.

Personal Practice

Establish breathwork as an ongoing tool for your own growth and transformation.

Weekend Themes

Each weekend builds upon the last, guiding you progressively deeper into embodied practice and facilitation.

Weekend I — Personal Experience & Foundation

Presence, embodiment, and containment
Preparing the body for charge
Learning to work with yourself

This weekend establishes the ground of the method. You begin with your own breath, your own nervous system, and your own capacity to stay present.

Weekend II — Deepening Understanding

Anatomy of the breath and breathing muscles
Nervous system and trauma
Physical holding patterns and tension

You begin to understand the physiology beneath the experience and how breath interacts with trauma and structure.

Weekend III — Psychosomatics

Foundations of Rebirthing
Psychological holding patterns
Altered states and neuroplasticity

We explore how the breath interacts with memory, patterning, and the psyche — and how to navigate altered states responsibly.

Weekend IV — Facilitation & Teaching

Teaching the Method
Holding space and hands-on support
Facilitation practice and certification map

You begin guiding others, integrating structure, presence, and discernment into your facilitation.

Certification Pathway
